About Ziro and Ziro Festival 2026

By Air: Travellers can fly to Donyi Polo Airport near Itanagar and continue to Ziro by a pre-arranged vehicle. The road journey generally takes several hours depending on weather and traffic conditions.

By Train: Naharlagun Railway Station is the most commonly used railhead for Ziro. From Naharlagun, travellers can continue by shared or private vehicle. The road distance is approximately 100–120 km.

From Guwahati: Travellers can take a train from Guwahati to Naharlagun and then proceed to Ziro by road. A direct road journey from Guwahati is also possible, although it is considerably longer and should be planned with adequate travel time and rest stops.

Indian citizens visiting Arunachal Pradesh generally require an Inner Line Permit, while foreign nationals may require the applicable protected-area travel permission. Travellers should arrange the required documentation before beginning the journey.

Accommodation during the festival mainly includes local homestays, guesthouses and camps. Since Ziro is a sustainable village destination, facilities may be basic compared with urban hotels. Some homestays provide attached washrooms, while others have Indian-style or Western-style washrooms located outside the main homestay building.

September in Ziro can be pleasant but unpredictable, with cool evenings and the possibility of rain. Travellers should carry a light jacket, rainwear, comfortable waterproof footwear, personal medicines, a power bank and basic toiletries.
